Recent research claims that we dream every night. Taking this into consideration I wouldn’t say I always remember my dreams for I don’t experience it every morning. My dreams are usually quiet complex, with lots of characters and sceneries. The theme may change, but, if they were movies, I would say they all belong to the genre: drama. I believe dreams are extremely important in our lives. In my case at list, I’m convinced dreaming is just as good, or even better, than going to the shrink. I experience catharsis every time I dream. When back to the conscious world, I always try to analyze what I’ve dreamt, in fact, I can’t help it. I usually get to the conclusion I’ve been able to decode my dream and, well, then, I have thoughts on it and sometimes take decisions.
The answers to the questions on the video will be sent by mail so everybody has the chance to solve the excercise.
Well…my last dream was about living with a boyfriend (whose appearance I completely imagined, I cannot say he was someone I know). We live in a small still comfortable apartment, with not much furniture. The light is yellowish, yet somehow, the room is warm and homely. We are sitting next to each other in front of a pc. He is a computer buff, which I am not, but still we have some shared knowledge, so, that wouldn’t make us feel uncomfortable. The thing is, I take his hand and gently kiss it, he says he loves me, I correspond him saying I love him back. A fairy tale up to there. Right after that he says he is leaving me. I jump from the chair and start desperately crying in silence covering my face with my favourite cushion (a square-shaped one I have since I was about 6 years old). I point at him and claim “I’ll lock myself in the bathroom for 10’ and expect not to see you here as I come out, ok?” He says nothing. I walk towards the bathroom through a corridor. From the corner of my eye I see him grabbing some of his stuff. At that precise moment, I hear voices (two girls’ laughs) and a car horn coming from the street. The sounds are coming from a room at my right. It is a dark room, empty, with a big window with open panes and closed venetian blinds. He hears the noises too and shouts “I’m coming! Wait for me!.” And then I wake up.
I don’t really think my dream was that encoded, in fact, the meaning is pretty clear don’t you think? I should have probably chosen some other dream to apply the dream analysis techniques from the video. However, this was the last one and the one I remember the most. My conclusion? I don’t feel like being dropped like a hot potato again :-P
