a. He explains that there is an academic tradition called the last lecture, but for him it’s not just a tradition. He wonders what one would say to his /her students for the last time. He asks himself this because he has cancer and doctors estimate that he is going to live jut a few more months.
b. The speech is about how to achieve your childhood dreams
c. The Dr’s childhood was happy and full of dreams. He says we should not loose the spirit that everything is possible.
d. The expression he loves is “experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want.”
e. After fifteen years of trying he learned that the brick walls in our way are there for a reason, and this reason is to show us how much we want things.
f. His mother discovered that her husband had won a bronze medal for valour after war and had never told the family about it. By this he learned that his father was a humble person.
g. His parents allowed him to paint his bedroom walls as he wanted showing him that creativity and people had more value that things.
h. He says that we should never forget that having fun is important and that we have to choose having a cheerful life or not.
i. To achieve your dreams you have to work and play well with others, have integrity. The main point he mentions are: tell the truth, apologize properly (“I’m sorry”, “it was my failt” and “How do I make it right?”) and wait to see that everyone has something good to show you, people are not pure evil.
j. He showed gratitude to a group who had been working with him and he took them all for a weekend to Disneyland to thank them for helping him to get the job he dreamed about.
k. You can choose to spend your finite time complaining or playing the game hard, which is going to be more useful and productive.
l. He chooses to give the lecture because he wants his children to watch it when he is gone. He wrote it just for them.
I found his speech really moving, positive, optimistic. I strongly believe he is a example to all of us, young people who have their entires lives to live and enjoy, and old people who are usually complaining because they don't feel well isntead of enjoying that they are alive. I think everytime we feel depressed we shoold remeber this video and take as an example and immediately change the attitude with which we are facing our lives.
